Her career began with British Petroleum in 1984, where she gained comprehensive experience across various disciplines (offshore drilling engineer supervisor, onshore production lead engineer, reservoir engineer project manager) in the oil and gas sector. This hands-on approach led her to establish TP Exploration, Inc. in 1991, which she operated for nearly three decades. Her company specialized in federal leases in the Northwest United States, conducting geological surveys and managing leases until drilling was feasible.

In addition to her work in oil and gas, Ms. Goodwin pursued civil engineering projects, focusing on water and wastewater treatment systems in East Texas. Her dedication to engineering was evident as she balanced motherhood with her business responsibilities after having twins at age 40. In 2018, she joined CP&Y, Inc. as an engineering business consultant, but the closure of the Tyler office prompted her to explore new avenues. This transition led her to writing, culminating in creating the GG Life Lessons Storybook Series ® in 2019.

Ms. Goodwin's educational background laid a strong foundation for her diverse career. She earned a Bachelor of Science in petroleum engineering from Texas A&M University in 1984 and a Bachelor of Science in curriculum and instruction, emphasizing secondary education in mathematics and chemistry from the same institution in 1979. Furthering her education, she obtained a Master of Business Administration from the University of Texas at Tyler in 1999. These academic achievements equipped her with the skills to navigate technical and business challenges throughout her career.

Ms. Goodwin's contributions have been recognized with several awards, including the Aggie Women Legacy Award from Texas A&M University in 2021 for her pioneering role as a woman in engineering. Her book "GG Cleans House – Learning Teamwork" from the GG Life Lessons Storybook Series ® received the Mom's Choice Awards Silver Award and the Family Choice Awards Gold Award in 2021. These honors underscore her impact on both engineering and children's literature.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Ms. Goodwin is dedicated to early childhood education through her GG Life Lessons Storybook Series ®. Inspired by her Cane Corso Italian mastiff, GG, she aims to instill values such as morality and character in young readers. Her vision extends to developing an animated educational TV series based on GG's adventures, incorporating educational elements like colors, the alphabet and seasons.

Born in Houston, Ms. Goodwin's personal life is enriched by spending time with her grandson, emphasizing active engagement with books over passive television watching. As she looks to the future, she is excited about writing the screenplay for GG's animated series, believing it will provide children with a richer learning experience by bringing GG's energy and curiosity to life on screen.
