A distinguished psychiatrist with a career spanning several decades, Dr. Singerman's career is marked by significant contributions to psychiatry and mental health. Practicing at Burton Singerman, MD, LLC and the Centerville Clinics of Pennsylvania, he is also the founder and medical director of the Psychiatry and Psychology Subspecialty Expert Witness Network, established in 2019. His expertise in post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) has been instrumental in developing a training program for pre-deployed soldiers in the United States military, which has successfully reduced PTSD in combat situations.

Dr. Singerman's career includes his role as a psychiatric expert witness at Burton Singerman, MD, LLC from 2005 to 2023 and as a psychiatrist at Intercare Behavioral Health during the same period. He was chairman of the department of psychiatry at Conemaugh Health System in Johnstown, Pennsylvania from 2005 to 2010 and served as director of research for the U.S. Department of Defense PTSD National Model Program at Conemaugh Health System. Additionally, he was a civilian psychiatric consultant at The Pentagon and a psychiatric consultant at the Defense and Veterans Brain Injury Center in Johnstown from 2007 to 2010.

Earlier in his career, Dr. Singerman held positions such as clinical consultant for Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield from 1999 to 2005 and psychiatric consultant for the Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh from 1995 to 2000. He was chairman of psychiatry at St. Francis Health System from 1994 to 2000 and chief of psychiatry at Buffalo General Hospital in New York from 1987 to 1994. His academic roles included director of psychiatric residency training at Saint Louis University School of Medicine from 1981 to 1987 and director of psychiatry at Medical Care Group, Washington University in St. Louis from 1979 to 1981, during his National Institute of Mental Health Post-doctoral Research Award.

Dr. Singerman's educational background is extensive, having completed coursework at the Washington University in St. Louis School of Medicine between 1979 and 1981. He completed his psychiatry residency program at Johns Hopkins Hospital in 1979 after earning a Master of Public Health in epidemiology and international health from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in 1976. He received his Doctor of Medicine from Harvard Medical School in 1973. He is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, underscoring his commitment to excellence in his field.

Throughout his career, Dr. Singerman has been actively involved in various professional organizations, including serving as medical director for The Psychiatric Expert Witness Network and holding leadership roles within the Western New York Psychiatric Society and the Pennsylvania Psychiatric Society. His accolades include the Psychiatric Leadership Award from the Pittsburgh Psychiatric Society in 2021 and the Exemplary Psychiatrist of the Year Award from the National Alliance on Mental Illness.

In addition to his professional achievements, Dr. Singerman has made significant contributions through publications such as "Post-traumatic Stress Disorder in Civilian Litigation" and "Mental Health, Spirituality and Recovery." His work on projects like "Visual Functioning Questionnaire and Social Functioning" further highlights his dedication to advancing psychiatric knowledge.

Outside his professional life, Dr. Singerman cherishes time with his family, including his spouse, Ellen, and their children, Warhammer, Daniel and Stephen. He enjoys collecting stamps, particularly those from his father's collection which began with Israeli stamps and continued until his father's passing. Dr. Singerman plans to update this collection for future generations.

Looking ahead, Dr. Singerman intends to return to practice and resume his work as a psychiatric expert witness while continuing to write a book titled "Survival from the Political Battles of the 1970s." This project reflects on the political climate of that era and his experiences during that tumultuous time. Despite past challenges, including conflicts related to his opposition to Nixon's policies, Dr. Singerman remains passionate about teaching and contributing to the field he loves deeply.
