His earlier roles include vice president of enterprise solutions group at ATN International, director of corporate business development at Digicel Group, and regional enterprise sales roles at Vodafone Europe.

Academically, Mr. McGowan Smyth's foundation includes coursework in financial markets at Yale University in 2020, and an MBA from the University of Liverpool in 2018. He also studied law at Dublin Business School in 2011. He completed his early education at Belvedere College in Dublin, Ireland, in 2006. His certifications include certified professional coach (CPC) in leadership development from iPEC Coaching and energy leadership index master practitioner (ELI-MP) certification. Most recently in 2025, he received a certificate in elite performance management from Smurfit College in Dublin for work completed with Leinster Rugby in Ireland, an endeavor and area he plans to align more with his work in Galoras in the coming years.

In addition to his professional achievements, Mr. McGowan Smyth is actively involved in civic organizations, including his involvement with the International Bermuda Rugby Team and Teachers Rugby RFC as a former player and member.
