As a religious educator and college adviser at Westchester Hebrew High School since 2009, he has guided students in their academic and personal development.
Having begun his career at New Rochelle RELIG in New York in 1965, Mr. Tedesco spent 25 years as a youth ministry director. His tenure included developing the Catholic Youth Program sponsored by the five Catholic churches of New Rochelle to provide religious education, value development, social, athletic, and retreat activities. This program has grown significantly and will celebrate its 60th anniversary in 2025.
Affiliated with New Rochelle High School, Mr. Tedesco initially served as a financial aid counselor in 1974 and later as a guidance counselor from 1990 to 2008. His foundational role as a teacher at Mount Saint Michael Academy in the Bronx, New York, was the beginning of a long and successful career in this sector.
Mr. Tedesco's educational background is extensive and diverse. His academic journey began with a bachelor's degree in history with a minor in religion and philosophy from Iona University. He then received a master's degree in global studies with an emphasis on African studies from Saint John's University in 1967, a master's degree in religious education from Manhattan College in 1975, and a master's degree in school counseling from Manhattan College, where he also earned a professional diploma in counseling, in 1985.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Mr. Tedesco has been actively involved in various civic organizations. He serves as a volunteer counselor at Saint Gabriel's Church and holds positions as a board member, guest speaker and volunteer treasurer at Relig. His past involvement included membership with the New Rochelle NAACP during the 1970s and 1980s.
Mr. Tedesco's philosophy centers around positively impacting others' lives, which he considers the true measure of success. He is proud of his ability to connect with individuals from diverse backgrounds and provide support regardless of their circumstances. Throughout his career, Mr. Tedesco has been acknowledged for his service in religious education by the Archdiocese of New York and his involvement at New Rochelle High School by the Westchester School Counselor Organization. He was also noted for his contributions to the community by the Italian American Association of New Rochelle.
