In this capacity, he reports monthly activities, prepares financial statements, prepares technical accounting analysis memos, recommends accounting treatments, collects data from various teams, discusses financial reports, analyzes financials and coordinates with auditors. In his time at The Guitar Center Company, Mr. Choy has streamlined processes, strengthened crossteam collaboration and deepened his accounting function's analysis and reporting of the company's financial position and results of operations. He also pioneers AI solutions for his company and its accounting function by creating AI solution prototypes, leveraging AI to expand accounting team members' expertise into financial analysis and valuations and educating colleagues on potential applications and best practices of incorporating AI tools into their work. His expertise in these areas is a testament to his dedication and skill in accounting.

Before his current position, Mr. Choy honed his skills at Ernst & Young, serving as an assurance senior from 2022 to 2023. With Ernst & Young, he achieved a significant milestone as the lead senior of the team performing the first integrated audit for a newly public company. Prior to this achievement, he had previously assisted in the audit of the same client as a staff member when they went public. From 2020 to 2022, he worked as an assurance staff at Ernst & Young, further developing his auditing and compliance skills.

Mr. Choy's career began with roles that laid the foundation for his future success. In 2020, he gained valuable experience as an IT support intern at JRW Investments and was a peer tutor at The Master's University from 2017 to 2020. His leadership abilities were evident early on when he was elected student government vice president at The Master's University in 2019. Additionally, he worked as an audit intern at Farber Hass Hurley LLP in 2019 and contributed as an accounting and information systems designer for Lovette Properties in 2018. His initial roles included logistics manager and junior bookkeeper at Five-Star Sports from 2015 to 2016 and assistant basketball coach at the same organization during that period.

Mr. Choy's academic background is equally impressive. In 2020, he earned a Bachelor of Science in business administration with dual emphases in accounting and management information systems from The Master's University. The same year, he also completed a Bachelor of Science in computer and information sciences with an emphasis in information systems from the same institution, graduating summa cum laude. Following his studies at The Master's University, Mr. Choy pursued his CPA license in the state of California, in which his achievements on the Uniform CPA Examination were recognized with several awards. For his achievements on the CPA Exam, Mr. Choy was recognized with both the Elijah Watt Sells Award from the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the John F. Forbes Award from the California Society of CPAs in 2021. The Elijah Watt Sells Award is granted to CPA candidates who obtain a cumulative average score above 95.50 across all four sections of the Uniform CPA Examination and pass all four sections on their first attempt. In 2021, only 57 of the 72,000 individuals sitting for CPA Exam were awarded with the Elijah Watt Sells Award. The John F. Forbes Award is presented annually to one California CPA Examination candidate who earns the highest cumulative score and passes all four sections of the CPA Examination on the first attempt.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Mr. Choy has been actively involved in civic-minded organizations. He served at The Master's University as a wing assistant from 2019 to 2020, as an international student leader from 2018 to 2020 and as a member of the student government council from 2018 to 2019. His commitment to community service is further demonstrated by his role as a Sunday school teacher at Grace Community Church.

Outside of his career, Mr. Choy enjoys volunteering, exercising, and participating in sports. Born in Los Angeles, he attributes much of his success to the values instilled by his family, peers and mentors from both church and professional settings, who have guided him throughout his personal and professional journey and his relationship with God.
