Dr. Li is a distinguished scientist and senior manager with 35 years of experience in the life sciences, biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and molecular diagnostics industries. As the director of protein reagent development and production at Cepheid, a Danaher Operating Company, he has been contributing to the advancement of molecular diagnostics for the company since 2014. Dr. Li's knowledge, experience, and expertise have significantly driven organizational success by producing cost-effective IVD assays, including one that can detect SARS-CoV-2, influenza A, influenza B, and/or RSV simultaneously. Throughout his career, Dr. Li has been involved in drug discovery, protein therapeutics, vaccine development, cancer immunotherapy and molecular diagnostics. His contributions have resulted in 32 patents across the United States and Europe, and his efforts and dedication to developing reliable and accurate diagnostic tools have greatly improved patient care.

A member of the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology since 1994, Dr. Li has published 22 manuscripts in prominent peer-reviewed scientific journals and has been invited to speak at major biopharmaceutical technology and academic conferences. His academic journey began with a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from Zhongshan (Sun Yat-sen) University in Guangzhou, China, followed by a Master of Science in Biology from Jinan University/Chinese Academy of Sciences. He pursued a Doctor of Philosophy in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Miami School of Medicine in 1990 and further honed his expertise as a postdoctoral fellow at the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis from 1991 to 1994.

Following his fellowship, Dr. Li's early career can be traced through his roles as a senior fellow at the University of Washington School of Medicine from 1995 to1998, a senior scientist in antigen discovery and process sciences at Corixa Corporation from 1999 to 2003, a senior scientist at Epitomics from 2004 to 2005 and an associate director of cell biology at Multispan from 2005 to 2006. During his later tenure as an associate director of research and product development at Dendreon from 2006 to 2012, Dr. Li contributed to the development of the first FDA-approved cancer immunotherapy for prostate cancer, marking a significant milestone in cancer treatment.

Dr. Li attributes much of his success to the support of his family, particularly his wife, Jun, and the guidance and recommendations from advisors and mentors throughout his career. His commitment to collaboration has also been pivotal to achieving significant industry milestones.

Beyond his professional achievements, Dr. Li is actively involved in civic activities such as volunteering for schools and health care organizations. Born in Xinhui, Guangdong Province, he enjoys practicing Tai chi during his leisure time.
