Mr. Moharil initially joined Texas Instruments in 2004, serving as a senior design engineer for two years. In 2006, he ascended to the role of design integration lead, where he remained until 2008. Thereafter, from 2008 to 2011, he served as a principal design engineer, focusing on high-performance SoC design, followed by a nine-year tenure as a package co-design lead and technologist until 2020, where he led efforts in semiconductor packaging. During this time, he earned the Growth Super Stars award from Texas Instruments in 2009. Prior to assuming his most recent position, Mr. Moharil was a principal applications engineer and lead technologist for four years, where he contributed greatly to talent development by guiding engineers on simulation and board design. Mr. Moharil commenced his professional career with Mindspeed as a design engineer in 2000, serving in this capacity until 2003 when he became a technical staff member at Sandbridge Technologies.
Adjacent to his primary endeavors, Mr. Moharil holds multiple patents in his field, including a patent for dual registered data path architecture with registers in a data file divided into groups and subgroups (US 8,880,855), an extended width shifter for the arithmetic logic unit (US 8,805,903), and for hardware implementation of a Galois field multiplier (US 8,650,239), all obtained in 2014. Previously, he received three patents in 2013 (US 8,601,040, US 8,554,823 and US 8,554,824) concerning reduced-level shift overflow detection, techniques for the optimization and reuse of hardware in the implementation of instructions used in Viterbi and Turbo decoding, and efficient techniques for optimal reuse of hardware in the implementation of instructions used in Viterbi, Turbo and LPDC decoders.
Furthermore, Mr. Moharil has contributed significantly to global conferences related to his breadth of knowledge since 2007. Most recently, he contributed to "Impact of Power Supply Noise on Aging of I/O Circuits" at the Texas Instruments Device Analysis Technology Symposium in 2016 and "On Package Micro Voltage Regulator" at the Texas Instruments Packaging Conference in 2014. Notably, in 2011, Mr. Moharil participated in the IEEE Symposium on Computer Arithmetic. He has maintained professional alignment with the IEEE and American Mensa. To continue his family's legacy, Mr. Moharil took the helm of a nonprofit organization initially established by his parents in 2010, with a goal to find warm, compassionate homes for abandoned children. He recently donated property in India to support the nonprofit's mission.
Highly educated, Mr. Moharil graduated from the Indian Institute of Technology in Bombay with a Bachelor of Technology in electrical engineering in 1998. After immigrating to the United States, he attended the University of California (UC) Santa Barbara, earning a Master of Science in computer engineering in 1999. Impressively, in 1998, he was a teaching assistant for Nobel Laureate Herbert Kroemer, a professor of electrical engineering at UC Santa Barbara. Equipped with several certifications, Mr. Moharil earned a certificate in organizational leadership from Harvard Business School in 2024. In 2016, he received an advanced project management certificate from Stanford University.
In accounting for his success, Mr. Moharil credits the influence of his family, many mentors and the successful individuals to whom he looked for guidance during the formative phases of his career. Experiencing significant growth across several domains, he also attributes his success to his diligent work ethic and deep curiosity to further his understanding of innovations. His commitment to excellence inspires others as he navigates new challenges and opportunities. Looking toward the future, Mr. Moharil aims to utilize his diverse expertise to drive continued innovation by taking new technologies from concept to production.
In his spare time, Mr. Moharil enjoys listening to and playing music. Largely self-taught, he plays the keyboards and the harmonium – a keyboard instrument similar to an organ which produces sound by blowing air through reeds. He also has a YouTube channel, which is a compendium of several Indian and other songs that he has played on the keyboard and the harmonium. He is passionate about cricket and enjoys reading about the game and the great players who have graced it over the years. A keen aviation enthusiast, he has followed this passion since childhood, reading multiple books about aircraft and aviation over the years. He was also a volunteer at the Cavanaugh Flight Museum in Addison TX for some time. During this phase, his responsibilities included maintaining museum aircraft and engaging visitors to the museum, as well as representing the museum at local air shows. He also has a fascination for numbers and statistics in history, sport, aviation and other disciplines and enjoys discovering patterns between seemingly uncorrelated sets of numbers and data.
