RICHMOND, VA, March 26, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Michael Elwood Pollock, already an accomplished listee, with its Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award, recognizing his 50-plus years advocacy of the highest of genealogical standards, with over 30 years emphasizing forensics, qualifying in multiple jurisdictions inside Virginia and elsewhere as an expert witness in genealogy, and helping to set, through his insights and strategies, a new legal precedent in Virginia Electric & Power v Richard F Tate et al. that allowed completion of the $1.8B Virginia City Hybrid Energy Center on time and on budget, likely the highest value project in history where a genealogist has played such a significant role in the outcome.
As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Mr. Pollock's professional journey began in 1974 at the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, where working as a clerk-genealogist, under the mentorship of Registrar General Annis Richardson, he discovered his passion for genealogy, continuing to hone his skills first as president of Lineage Search Associates from 1977-1999, and since then as owner of Anquestory Genealogical Research & Consulting, as well as working with referral services once offered at Everton, Ancestry, and GenealogyFreelancers, and still offered by ExpertGenealogy. He also singles out as mentors the late John Frederick Dorman and James Dent Walker, but there are others, too many to list fully, deserving such recognition.
As a genealogist, Mr. Pollock has an unconventional academic background, with a BA in Russian studies and government from William & Mary in 1973 and a master's degree from Georgetown University. Though he was admitted to the PhD program in Russian area studies, he dropped out in 1978 with only his master's degree to focus on genealogy.
He credits his success as a genealogist, emphasizing forensics, not just to dogged determination, but also a discipline acquired by studying both a different language and alphabet, giving him an ability to discern, even anticipate, misspellings and mispronunciations resulting from differences of languages, even dialects of language, an advantage in reading some of the historical, hand-written documents he sees in his work.
Mr. Pollock also employs unconventional thinking to find records that colleagues can overlook, leading him to discover, and publish, multiple records thought to no longer exist, if ever existing, records such as the two books of Methodist Church records for Gloucester County, Virginia, as well as articles in such magazines as Frederick Findings, Virginia Magazine of Genealogy and Southside Virginian, one of Springfield (WV) Presbyterian church records, another of lost records from Stafford and James City Counties, Virginia, found, verbatim, in an order book for King George County.
His genealogical contributions also include research on the ancestries of President Ronald Wilson Reagan used in Burke's Presidential Families of the United States, and of First Lady Barbara Pierce Bush, commissioned for inclusion in an edition of Burke's that was never published.
His genealogy contributions are far from complete, with a number of projects in waiting, his hoping to complete first a definitive study of the events and personalities involved in the creation of the Catholic Diocese of Richmond, Virginia, in 1820 after research into the ancestry of a client found one of those ancestors credited with having a role in that creation, his then uncovering letters in the Diocese of Baltimore archives that contradict the official history of the creation, followed by civil records no other historian mentions that both substantiate the contradiction and point to France, Portugal and Spain as places where additional context may be found. To fund the same, Mr. Pollock plans to conduct at Patreon a multi-faceted bidding campaign for both specific numbered copies and repositories to which individual copies can be donated to qualify for a charitable gift tax exemption.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Mr. Pollock has been active in civic organizations and politics, serving as a judge of elections and a delegate to numerous Congressional and State Republican Party conventions for multiple jurisdictions. Performing since elementary school, Mr. Pollock was a founding member of the William & Mary Alumni Band, a long-time equipment manager for the same, and served on both its Board of Directors and twice as President. He has also been a member of Richmond Concert Band and the Washington Redskins Marching Band, with the latter, able to say he has played music professionally.
He had had an interest in health care/wellness for more than 30 years, and even remains active in the same, notwithstanding genealogy will always be his primary focus, as a part-time Certified Personal Care Attendant and mentor of a client working to wean himself off Medicaid by using his own experiences to become an advocate for others needing proper diagnosis of their conditions, qualified providers for treatment, and even proper insurance coverage.
Applying his unconventional thinking to health care/wellness, Mr. Pollock is now a brand partner for Centropix, a new biotechnology company offering Kloud Maxi/Mini and Bubble2, FDA Class 1 Registered wellness devices amazingly effective notwithstanding their unorthodox nature, something noted by Dr. Jeff Wulfman, who, in Centropix-hosted Zooms, has stated he is seeing clients previously poorly responsive to his protocols begin to respond positively while clients who had positive response to his protocols see an accelerated response when adding Centropix wellness inputs, thus validating Mr. Pollock's own experiences with Centropix devices.
