Ms. Ogunshola is a fab operations engineer at IBM, where she has been contributing her expertise since 2023. In her role, she ensures the fabrication area is optimally producing wafers with healthy yields. She is actively involved in clean room operations, analyzing tool downtimes and developing recovery plans to maintain operational efficiency. Her responsibilities also include training and mentoring operators and supporting colleagues dedicated to specific tool sets. Her work focuses on overall operational management to enhance research and development efforts.
Before joining IBM, Ms. Ogunshola served as an epitaxial process engineer at Onsemi from 2022 to 2023. During this time, she made significant contributions to defect mitigation within the epitaxial process. Her work included developing an aggressive cleaning method that eliminated excess residue in chambers, preventing defects in wafer production. She also played a key role in creating the Recovery Flow Checklist, which provided a structured approach to addressing significant defects.
From 2018 to 2022, Ms. Ogunshola was a process engineer at Intel Corporation, where she honed her skills in defect analysis and process improvement. Prior to her tenure at Intel, she was a physics teacher at KIPP DC from 2016 to 2018, where she inspired students in physics and engineering. Her career began with roles in the aviation industry as a fleet engineering co-op at Delta Air Lines from 2013 to 2015 and as a structures engineering intern at United Airlines from 2015 to 2016.
Ms. Ogunshola's early career was marked by her research work with NASA from 2011 to 2015, where she contributed to building a portable Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) system. Additionally, she served as an ASPIRE directed supplemental instructor for calculus I and II with the National Science Foundation from 2013 to 2015. Her involvement with professional organizations such as the National Society of Black Engineers and the Society of Women Engineers underscores her commitment to advancing diversity and inclusion in engineering fields.
Ms. Ogunshola's academic journey began with a Bachelor of Science in mathematics with a minor in mechanical engineering from Spelman College in 2015. She furthered her education by earning a Master of Science in materials engineering from Arizona State University in 2022. Her academic achievements are complemented by her certification in Responsible Conduct in Research, which reflects her dedication to ethical practices in scientific inquiry.
Her determination has been a driving force throughout her career, particularly as a first-generation college graduate who overcame challenges to achieve her goals. As a descendant of enslaved persons, Ms. Ogunshola feels she honors her family's history and their focus on education by obtaining her master's degree and excelling in her industry work. This determination was evident during her undergraduate research project with NASA, where she demonstrated perseverance and problem-solving skills that have been instrumental in her professional success.
Beyond her professional endeavors, Ms. Ogunshola has been involved in civic activities as a student volunteer at VCU Health from 2008 to 2011. She is also an accomplished author, having published works such as the "Ease Your Life" series and guided journals focused on wellness and life improvement.
In her personal life, Ms. Ogunshola enjoys exploring psychology, creative writing, journaling, baking healthy recipes and engaging in wellness activities. She is currently working on expanding her "Ease Your Life" series with a new book centered on gratitude and mindfulness.
