Prior to her current position, Ms. Grimshaw served as a nurse practitioner and medical coordinator with Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors without Borders) from 1999 to 2009. During this time, she gained invaluable experience working in challenging environments, which contributed significantly to her professional growth. Her work with Doctors Without Borders is one of her most notable achievements, alongside earning her doctorate. These experiences have shaped her into a resilient and accomplished health care professional.

Ms. Grimshaw's academic journey began with a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Nursing as an acute care nurse practitioner from the University of Connecticut in 1988 and 1995 respectively. She furthered her education by obtaining a Doctor of Nursing Practice from the University of Michigan in 2018. Her advanced degrees have been instrumental in her career, providing her with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in various health care settings. While a member of Association of Critical Care Nurses for 30 years, she also served as a peer reviewer for the American Journal of Critical Care.

Her professional accomplishments include being recognized as a New Haven Health Hero and winning second prize in a Daughters of the American Revolution national arts contest with her entry of a bobbin lace handkerchief.

Ms. Grimshaw attributes her success to her curiosity and willingness to embrace new opportunities. She believes that saying "yes" to various experiences, such as attending a course in jungle survival given by the Peruvian Air Force and other endeavors, has been crucial. For her, success is driven by a genuine interest in the world around her, and nursing has offered countless opportunities to engage in a wide variety of roles and activities.

Beyond her professional life, Ms. Grimshaw is civically engaged as regent of the Lady Fenwick Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution since 2017. She also served on the board of directors for Médecins Sans Frontières – USA and the International General Assembly from 2010 to 2017 and continues to volunteer with organizations like Chesprocott Health District. These roles highlight her dedication to improving community health and supporting humanitarian efforts.

In her personal life, Ms. Grimshaw enjoys making bobbin lace, camping, hiking and practicing Krav Maga. Looking ahead, she plans to transition toward retirement while exploring post-retirement opportunities. She remains involved with Doctors Without Borders and looks forward to traveling extensively in the future.
