As the founder and president of Nepalese Aid and chief executive officer of Sewa Senior Care in Chicago, Illinois, he is dedicated to empowering first-generation Nepali immigrants along with other underserved communities by providing employment, essential resources, advocacy and community support to help them thrive and providing personalized senior care services that enable seniors to live with dignity and independence. His leadership and strategic vision have been instrumental in shaping the organization's mission and impact.

Prior to his current role, Mr. Shahi served as co-interim executive director at the Chinese Mutual Aid Association from April 2024 to December 2024. During this period, he played a crucial role in steering the organization through transitional phases while ensuring continuity in its operations and services. Before assuming this position, Mr. Shahi served as the finance director and comptroller at the Chinese Mutual Aid Association from 2017 to 2024. His financial stewardship was instrumental in tripling the agency's revenue from over $5 million to more than $15 million, growing its assets from over $1 million to more than $6 million and enhancing its fiscal health and sustainability.

As the agency's operations manager from 2013 to 2017, Mr. Shahi honed his skills in managing day-to-day operations, implementing effective administrative processes and playing a pivotal role in establishing the agency's satellite office in Elgin, Illinois, expanding its reach to serve more community members.

Mr. Shahi's commitment to community service extends beyond his professional roles. He founded Nepalese Aid in 2022 to support first-generation Nepalese immigrants and other underserved communities in Chicagoland. Additionally, he has been actively involved with the Uptown Chamber of Commerce since 2017 as board treasurer and finance committee chair. His dedication to civic engagement is further exemplified by his tenure as board treasurer for Grow Your Own Illinois from July 2022 to June 2024.

Mr. Shahi's contributions have not gone unnoticed; he received the Unsung Hero Award from OCA Greater Chicago in 2024 for his outstanding service and impact on the community. He hopes to serve as a source of inspiration, especially to immigrants who face language barriers and are navigating a new environment. He aims to demonstrate that success is not only defined by an advanced educational degree but by hard work, dedication, compassion and a genuine passion for making a difference—qualities that have always fueled his journey and continue to guide him in both his professional and personal life.

Born in Kathmandu, Nepal, Mr. Shahi cherishes spending time with his wife, Sushma, and their two beautiful daughters, Suzanne and Sophia. He especially enjoys traveling and taking road trips with them. Looking ahead, he aims to expand Sewa Senior Care's reach within diverse communities while creating employment opportunities, fostering community success and ensuring that seniors receive the compassionate care they deserve. At Nepalese Aid, his long-term vision includes establishing a community center that provides comprehensive services under one roof for Nepali immigrants and other underserved communities, further strengthening support for those in need.
