COLUMBUS, OH, March 26, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Don Elijah Eckhart has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Dr. Eckhart had no intention of becoming an author. However, sensing a calling, he endeavored earnestly to discover whether a spiritual dream that had come to him in 1999 could be true. To answer that question, he enrolled in the Ashland Theological Seminary, where he received both a master's degree in Christian theology in 2015 and a doctorate in 2020. After 12 years of devoted study and contemplation, he felt confident that the revelation was biblical. Nevertheless, he remained at the seminary for another two years to complete his doctorate, his tenure there totaling 14 years. He documented his experiences and research in his book, "Jesus the Everlasting Hope of Humankind," published in 2018.
While he values his contributions to spiritual understanding, Dr. Eckhart is also proud of his work in state and local government. He began his career as an intern to the city manager of his hometown, Sidney, Ohio, and then in a similar position for Cheltenham Township, Pennsylvania. After graduate school, he held roles in Flint, Michigan; Dayton, Ohio; and Montgomery County, Ohio. Then, an opportunity surfaced with the Ohio Legislative Service Commission, where he was appointed division chief and remained in that role until retiring in 2004. The National Conference of State Legislatures honored Dr. Eckhart with a Legislative Staff Achievement Award in 2002 for his expertise in financial analysis. After retiring from full-time work, he continued to contribute in this area by teaching budgeting, policy analysis, and ethics and integrity seminars for the Ohio Certified Public Manager Program.
In addition to his work and academic roles, Dr. Eckhart's passion is helping individuals and families. His first volunteer experience was with Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, but it was by no means his last. Dr. Eckhart has led resettlement efforts for a Cambodian refugee family, distributed food to the disadvantaged, helped two disadvantaged men access social services and housing, provided driving instruction to two high school dropouts who needed independent transportation to secure employment and assisted a man with college. These are just some examples of the many people Dr. Eckhart has helped. Moreover, he and his wife, Sue Ellen, sold their house to a church at a greatly reduced cost so the property could be used to resettle a refugee Ukrainian family.
While Dr. Eckhart's writing career began with a spiritual dream, he drew upon his theological understanding and analytical skills to write "Jesus the Everlasting Hope of Humankind." He discovered that some historical theology was based on key ideas with an incomplete view, and his book presents an alternative plausible interpretation. He has also authored "A Second Look at Redemption" and "A Sea Change in Salvation Theology," both of which were featured in The National Digest.
Born in Ohio, Dr. Eckhart cherishes his family, which includes two sons and three grandchildren. Although he experienced the loss of his wife, Sue Ellen, in 2022, he honors her legacy by writing about her and by funding scholarships for students attending the high school from which she graduated. Currently, Dr. Eckhart leads a Bible study, facilitates a weekly devotional time and guides a memory care group in prayer. Looking to the future, he aspires to write more articles that build upon his theological research and to be a person who follows through on life's challenges with his God-given faith.
