Before that, she served as a sales account executive from 2004 to 2006 in Indianapolis, Indiana, where she developed her customer-focused selling approach. Her journey with Nike began after her tenure at Adidas in Portland, Oregon, where she worked in product and merchandising from 1999 to 2004. She started her career at Foot Locker, where she spent a decade from 1989 to 1999 as a buyer, merchandise manager and retail store manager.

Ms. Valentine's educational background laid a strong foundation for her professional achievements. She earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management from Texas Tech University in 1988 after completing an Associate of Arts at South Plains College in 1986. Her academic journey was supported by scholarships and work opportunities that were crucial in enabling her to pursue higher education. Additionally, she holds certifications from Kaleidoscope Executive Consultants for the Intercultural Development Inventory, obtained in 2020, and a professional certificate in strategic foresight from the University of Houston, earned in 2019.

Throughout her career, Ms. Valentine has been commended for her contributions and achievements. She received the Distinguished Alumni Award from South Plains College in 2024, an honor that allowed her to reconnect with mentors who played pivotal roles in her journey. At Nike, she was recognized with a Nike Maxim Award in both 2009 and 2015 for exceptional performance.
