In preparation for his career achievements, Mr. Alexander earned a Bachelor of Science in computer science from Delaware State University and a master's degree in mathematics education from Old Dominion University. Beyond his professional commitments, Mr. Alexander is actively involved in civic organizations. He serves as a trustee on the Human Services Advisory Board and volunteers as a bingo caller at a nursing home, demonstrating his dedication to community service and engagement. Mr. Alexander has also chaired the New Chesapeake Men for Progress Education Foundation, where he plays a pivotal role in providing scholarships for students. Moreover, he is involved with Ground Zero Youth Development as its vice president, mentoring youth through diverse activities. Mr. Alexander's dedication to youth development is also evident in his role as a 13-time mentor for the Virginia Commonwealth Challenge for At-Risk Youth. On March 24, 2025, he was appointed a board member of Chesapeake Integrated Behavioral Healthcare by the Chesapeake City Council. Chesapeake Integrated Behavioral Healthcare optimizes quality of life by providing exceptional services to the citizens of Chesapeake whose lives are affected by mental illness, intellectual disabilities, substance abuse, or developmental difficulties.
Mr. Alexander's efforts have not gone unnoticed. He was recognized by the Educational Leadership National Advisory Council in 2017 and was named Educator of the Year by the Chesapeake Rotary Club in 2019. His leadership was further recognized when he received the H. Council Trenholm Memorial Award from the National Education Association in 2024, acknowledging his contributions to education and scholarship funding. Under Mr. Alexander's guidance, the foundation plans to distribute $250,000 in scholarships to students in Chesapeake, focusing on various fields, including the arts.
Influenced by a family deeply rooted in education, Mr. Alexander attributes his success to his parents and spouse, who have been his greatest supporters. Looking ahead, he aspires to advance into a principal role while continuing to fulfill his purpose guided by faith.
