SANTA MONICA, CA, March 28, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Lynda Huey, MS, has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Ms. Huey, a distinguished expert in water rehabilitation, clinical administration and sports medicine, has dedicated her career to advancing aquatic therapy. As the founder and president of CompletePT Pool & Land Physical Therapy, established in 1999, she has built a reputable clinic in Los Angeles County that is recognized as the gold standard in aquatic therapy.
Ms. Huey's facility handles over 700 patient visits weekly and is highly regarded by more than 600 physicians who regularly refer patients. Under her leadership, the clinic's program has evolved to accommodate individuals of all abilities, including those with orthopedic, neurological, rheumatological and podiatric conditions, those with functional deficits in daily life, geriatric, pre-surgical and post-surgical patients, and athletes from various sports.
Ms. Huey also provides aquatic therapy internships for students at local universities and physical therapists from around the world. Other achievements include hosting the Meet the Doctors Podcast from 2018 to 2019 and training child actors for underwater film sequences in Barbra Streisand's film "The Prince of Tides."
Before founding CompletePT, Ms. Huey created Huey's Athletic Network in 1986, which continues to present day. She began working with Olympic track and field athletes during their recovery phases, helping them prepare for competition. Her methods gained recognition within the track and field community and expanded to include basketball, ice hockey, tennis, football and volleyball athletes. Among her clients have been Wilt Chamberlain, Barbra Streisand, Ben Stiller, Courtney B. Vance, Paula Abdul, Amanda Peet, Cybill Shepherd, Luc Robitaille, John Lloyd, Sinbad, and Carl Lewis.
Ms. Huey's career also includes serving as a water rehab coach for UCLA Athletics from 1987 to 1989 and as an athlete liaison for NBC Sports in 1987 at the Rome World Athletic Championships and in 1988, at the Seoul Olympic Games. Her expertise is further supported by her membership in industry-related organizations, such as the Aquatic Exercise Association and the Aquatic Therapy and Rehab Institute. Utilizing her expertise, she was instrumental in designing the Jodie Foster Aquatic Pavilion at the Saban Center on the Motion Picture & Television Fund campus. Earlier in her career, she was the athletic director at the International Sportsmedicine Institute in Los Angeles from 1983 to 1984 and the Physical Activities Director at the Santa Monica YWCA from 1978 to 1980.
Of all her work, Ms. Huey is most proud of collaborating with physical therapists to develop aquatic therapy protocols, combining her expertise with that of professionals who work with injured Olympic and pro athletes. These protocols have been adopted by major hospital aquatic programs, helping patients regain full functionality in a progressive therapeutic environment.
Ms. Huey is a former athlete herself, who starred on the women's track team as a sprinter at San Jose State during the "Speed City" years. She helped open doors for women athletes in the time before Title IX, legislation that required equal programs for men and women. She sat in on a course offered strictly for men on Athletic Taping and Injuries and refused to leave, telling the instructor she would need that in her future coaching. Women weren't expected to coach in those days; nearly all coaches were men, but she intended to change that. She coached track and field at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, West Los Angeles College, Los Angeles City College, UCLA, and coached volleyball at Cal State University San Marcos. When she found only one restroom at the UCLA track that said "Men" on it, she would tape a handwritten sign, "Restroom" over it every time she went there, and today that's what the sign now permanently reads.
Ms. Huey's academic background includes a Master of Science in kinesiology from San Jose State University and a Bachelor of Science in physical education. These educational achievements have been instrumental in her success in developing advanced rehabilitation programs and authoring many books on aquatic therapy. Overall, she attributes her accomplishments to her mother's unwavering support and the influence of American basketball player Wilt Chamberlain, her long-time companion. Neither Ms. Huey nor Mr. Chamberlain wanted to get married or have children, so instead they came home to each other as family for over two decades.
Ms. Huey has also made significant contributions to her field through her publications, including:
A Running Start: An Athlete, a Woman. Quadrangle: The New York Times Book Co. 1976.
The Waterpower Workout, New American Library, 1986.
The Complete Waterpower Workout Book, Random House, 1993.

Her work has earned her various accolades, such as the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Aquatic Exercise Association in 2016 and the creation of the Lynda Huey Award from the United States Water Fitness Association. Beyond her professional endeavors, Ms. Huey enjoys hiking, reading, traveling and bodyboarding as an integral part of her fitness lifestyle. Since the 1990s, she has caught waves all over the world - from Hawaii, Fiji, Australia, to South Africa, Morocco, Portugal, Peru, and dozens of Southern California's best surf breaks. She is also civically involved with Volunteer Ministers, proudly helping fire fighters during the Los Angeles fires. In the upcoming years, she intends to establish an aquatic center in Manhattan with a staff she has personally trained. This vision reflects her commitment to expanding access to high-quality aquatic therapy while continuing to mentor future professionals in the field. Her Aquatic Rehab Online Course is available at LyndaHuey.com and is being studied in 27 countries. A 300-page textbook with 200 dazzling photos of the exercises represents Ms. Huey's effort to keep her work growing worldwide while not faltering in quality.
