Mr. Oltmans, an accomplished legal professional, currently serves as the chief legal officer at Fulcrum Therapeutics, a position he has held since 2020. In this role, he also serves as corporate secretary. His expertise spans patents, litigation, employment law, compliance, enterprise risk management, corporate governance, securities law, and cybersecurity. His career is marked by significant achievements and contributions to the legal field.

Before joining Fulcrum Therapeutics, Mr. Oltmans was the vice president of litigation at DaVita Inc. from 2019 to 2020. Prior to that, he served as the executive vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary at Array BioPharma Inc., now part of Pfizer Inc., from 2017 to 2019. His tenure at Novo Nordisk Inc. from 2005 to 2017 included roles as corporate vice president and general counsel. During this time, he led a notable project providing diabetes education and support to the Rosebud Sioux Tribe in South Dakota, which involved constructing a multi-purpose fitness center and establishing a mobile health clinic.

Mr. Oltmans began his legal career at Shook, Hardy & Bacon. He joined Eli Lilly and Company (dba Lilly), where he worked in the litigation, FDA regulatory and international groups from 1992 to 2005. Beyond his professional roles, he has contributed to the industry as a director on the board of directors for Avenue Therapeutics since 2021 and previously served as editor-in-chief of the Nebraska Law Review during his academic years.

His educational background includes a Juris Doctor from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1988 and a Bachelor of Arts in political science from the same institution in 1985. Mr. Oltmans attributes his success to his wife, family and employers, who have supported him throughout his career journey. In addition, his approach to learning each business from the ground up has enabled him to provide better legal advice and, in turn, increase each business's likelihood of success.

Along with his professional accomplishments, Mr. Oltmans is actively involved in civic organizations. He served as a board of trustee member for the Boys & Girls Club of Mercer County from 2013 to 2017. He is also an adjunct professor at the University of Colorado Law School in Boulder and mentors law students. His memberships in the Order of the Coif, the National Association of Corporate Directors and the Phi Beta Kappa Society underscore his commitment to his profession and continued education.

Outside of his career, Mr. Oltmans enjoys skiing, golf, biking, hiking, fishing and hunting. Looking ahead, he is dedicated to giving back through initiatives like the Rosebud Project and plans to continue mentoring young law students and professionals. Additionally, he aims to leverage his experience by taking on roles as a board director while continuing to teach at the University of Colorado Law School.
