NEWTON, MA, April 01, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Silvia Dupont has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Mrs. Dupont has dedicated nearly 25 years to the field of education, with a focus on teaching Italian language and culture. Since 2015, she has been a teacher of Italian at Newton North High School, where she instructs all levels of the language, from Italian II to Advanced Placement (AP) courses. Her commitment to education extends beyond the standard curriculum as she has created a new class focused on Italian American culture to help students connect with their heritage and their community. Additionally, she connects her students to the Italian consulate in Boston and co-organizes an annual exchange trip with a high school in Florence, Italy, managing itineraries and documents, and accompanying students to visit several cities in Italy for a fully immersive linguistic and culture experience.
Before her current role, Mrs. Dupont served as an Italian instructor at Boston College from 2014 to 2015. Prior to this, she was an Italian language instructor at Speak! Language Center and a lecturer at the University of Virginia from 2006 to 2014. Her teaching career began at the University of Notre Dame, where she moved after marrying her husband, who was studying and working there. Alongside her teaching roles, she has been a freelance professional translator since 1999.
Mrs. Dupont's contributions to education are further highlighted by her involvement with the College Board on the AP program, her significant role in writing and co-authoring textbooks, and her presentations at professional conferences. Additionally, she has been recognized by parents and students for her dedication and understanding of student needs. She was initially inspired to enter the education field by her mother, who was also a teacher, recalling her prepare for classes and grade exams.
Mrs. Dupont's academic background includes a double master's degree in foreign language pedagogy from Ca' Foscari University in 2012 and a bachelor's degree in business and managerial economics from the University of Florence in 1997 before immigrating to the United States. Her professional affiliations include memberships in the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages, the American Association of Teachers of Italian, the American Association for Italian Studies, and the American Translators Association.
Beyond her education, she attributes her success to her personal experiences as a high-anxiety student in Italy's educational system, which lacked support and varied instruction levels. These experiences have given her insight into students' perspectives, particularly those struggling with anxiety and mental health issues.
Looking ahead, Mrs. Dupont aspires to continue teaching and keep focusing on her relationships with students as they navigate significant modern challenges, such as developing learning strategies in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. She emphasizes the importance of strong interpersonal skills in connecting with high school students' and aims to maintain an understanding of their perspectives and aspirations. Additionally, she hopes to continue writing and developing her students oral and written expression skills, while also fostering their intellectual growth outside traditional classroom settings.
