Before that, he served as the vice president at SGC Energia from 2009 to 2011, contributing significantly to the company's strategic initiatives as a worldwide provider of Fischer-Tropsch (FT) products and related technologies. From 2005 to 2009, he was the president and chief executive officer of Carina Technology Inc., where he led efforts in technological advancements and business growth.

Mr. Hetherington's career is marked by significant milestones, including the creation of the Apollo Ware real-time energy project. This innovative platform allows residential consumers to participate in the wholesale energy market and has been recognized by the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) for its impact on energy management. His influence has also been acknowledged through awards such as the Lecture Co-Op of the Year by the Texas Energy Summit in 2024 and the Enterprise Award from Southern Methodist University.

He earned a Master of Business Administration from Central Michigan University in 1992 as well as a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University. Along with his education, he attributes much of his success to the steadfast support of his wife, who has been a significant influence throughout his professional and personal journey.
Beyond his career, Mr. Hetherington is deeply committed to civic engagement as a volunteer with Hill Country Daily Bread Mission and serves on the board of the Association of Edison International Corporate. Notably, he also donated a microgrid to help bring electricity to underserved areas in Western Africa.

Born in Louisville, Mr. Hetherington enjoys a fulfilling personal life with his spouse and their three children. With a longtime passion for the creative arts, he released a CD titled "Songs from Co-Op America," showcasing his talents as a singer and songwriter. He also enjoys golfing and reading in his spare time.

Looking to the future, Mr. Hetherington hopes to have his energy management platform Apolloware adopted by ERCOT and made accessible across the state of Texas.
