Mr. Nguyen, a distinguished professional in investing, strategic partnerships and business advisory, has recently made significant strides in his financial career. As a partner at 5IRFUNDS.COM, he has been instrumental in aligning network resources, expertise and experience to foster company growth. His role involves meticulously completing company valuation and collaborating with founders and other business partners. Additionally, in 2024, he took on roles as a managing partner at TheCulinaryCode.com and as an investor and partner at BLACK BOX Prompter, where he is focused on taking those companies to the next level.
In 2023, Mr. Nguyen co-founded MaiPhamLe LLC, a family business that holds personal significance and has now brought on three employees. The name reflects the names of his mother, mother-in-law and brother's mother-in-law. This venture is one of four enterprises he has established, showcasing his entrepreneurial spirit. Also that year he filed his first patent application with the USPTO where he hopes his idea will change the landscape of retail and authentication. As of February 2025 Mr. Nguyen founded AKTA Technologies to build solutions for identification and authentication solutions.
Mr. Nguyen's career began with roles that laid the foundation for his expertise. From 2017 to 2020, he served as senior manager of business intelligence at the American Heart Association. His earlier tenure as an IT leader in the for profit space gave him experience in healthcare, oil and gas, marketing, communications, financial institutions and retail security services. His leadership in analytics provided him access and experience to the inner workings and metrics that drove the company's revenue and operations.
Academically, Mr. Nguyen's background includes a Bachelor of Science in management information services from The University of Texas at Arlington in 2002. Beyond his formal education, he attributes much of his success to the unwavering support of his wife, who has been a cornerstone in his professional journey. He is deeply committed to his family and also draws inspiration from his two children Austin and Alyssa.
In addition to his professional endeavors, Mr. Nguyen is actively involved in civic activities, volunteering at a school and with the American Heart Association. Looking ahead in his career, he envisions introducing an innovative invention that will revolutionize global authentication processes across various sectors. His ambition is to eliminate counterfeit activity that not only affects the immediate small to medium business operations, but can also have long-term effects on a company's growth, innovation capacity, and market reputation.
Mr. Nguyen is also motivated to encourage Asians to become executives, C-suite leaders and founders, making their mark in the business world. Although underrepresented, he aims to highlight the untapped potential within people from diverse backgrounds, emphasizing that no one should be underestimated because of their heritage, culture or ethnicity. Part of Mr. Nguyen's inspiration for this mission comes from his father, who fought against all odds in the Vietnam War and then managed to bring his newborn son to the United States for a better life, showcasing what can be accomplished through hard work and determination.
A tribute to my parents:
None of the above would be possible without my parents. My father, being the oldest son in his family, was cooking and taking care of his siblings, while caring for the family pigs and plants as well at the age of nine years old. When food became scarce my father taught himself how to fish using a fishing line to catch as many fish daily as he could. Education was very important to my grandparents and they saw that as a way to improve the lives of their children going forward. That mentality still exists today thanks to them. My father then continued his fight when he entered the war to defend a way of life for the children he did not have yet at the age of 17. My father served as a medic and quickly studied how to provide treatment to the sick and wounded. When the war escalated further my father was asked to fight in the dense and harsh tropical forest. An encounter with the Viet Cong led to three injuries to both lower parts of his leg and he still gets emotional when he talks about the time he had to carry his dead best friends out so that their families could give them their deserved burial rather than leave their remains in the hands of the enemy. My dad married my mother who also had experienced tragedy right next to her home when a bomb was dropped on their village. Narrowly avoiding the blast my mother survived, and they knew they would need to flee their country if things got worse. Eight years after my father joined the Army, Saigon fell. My family's history also required us to change our last names to avoid capture and torture by the communists. They still carry fear to this day 50 years after the fall of the capital. Their bravery however still stands today as they continue to live the American dream. My success and my drive to have the same courage to continue to fight for my family and our way of life could only come from them.
