During his tenure, he played a pivotal role in opening two hospitals: one in The Woodlands, Texas, where he served as the assistant director of pathology, and another facility in Austin, where he served as director of business operations and support services. These accomplishments are among his most notable achievements.

From 2015 until 2021, Mr. Giess held the position of assistant director of pathology at Texas Children's Hospital, following his time there as a quality assurance and quality control technical specialist in transfusion medicine between 2011 and 2015. He began his journey with Texas Children's Hospital as a medical technologist in the blood bank from 2009 to 2011.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Giess worked as a medical technologist in microbiology at the Medical Center of Aurora from 2008 until 2009. He started along his professional path at Quest Diagnostics, where he served as a clinical setup supervisor between 1999 and 2007. This foundational experience laid the groundwork for his subsequent roles and achievements in laboratory services.

Instrumental in Mr. Giess's success was his educational background, which began with a bachelor's degree in computer systems networking and telecommunications from Fort Hays State University in 2003. He subsequently earned a Bachelor of Science in clinical laboratory science from the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in 2008, followed by a Master of Business Administration from Temple University in 2013. His certification as a medical laboratory scientist by the American Society for Clinical Pathology since 2008 underscores his commitment to excellence in his field.
