CHARLOTTE, NC, April 04, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Michael E. Van Lieu has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Mr. Van Lieu is the head women's volleyball coach at the University of South Carolina Lancaster, where he has been serving since 2020. In his role, he is responsible for training, coaching and mentoring student-athletes to compete in collegiate volleyball. His duties include recruiting both national and international players, managing the team's budget, creating and coordinating practice and competition schedules and collaborating with other coaches within the region. Dedicated to his students' personal growth over titles and medals, he uses their sporting experiences as an opportunity to impart valuable life lessons that will last long into their futures. His success is evident in his achievement of producing more than 30 academic all-region players over five seasons of coaching.

Before joining the University of South Carolina Lancaster, Mr. Van Lieu was the head volleyball coach at Indian Land High School in Charlotte from 2017 to 2020. Concurrently, he also served as the head volleyball coach for Intense Volleyball in Rock Hill, South Carolina, from 2018 to 2020. Prior to these roles, he was the head volleyball coach at Capitol City Volleyball Club in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, from 2014 to 2017. His well-traveled career also includes a spell as a teacher and head volleyball coach at St. John Interparochial School from 2016 to 2017.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Van Lieu worked as a teacher and volleyball coach with the East Baton Rouge Parish School System from 2005 to 2016. During this time, he was also a community school teaching artist with the Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge from 2005 to 2009. His professional journey began in the arts as a production and stage manager for Ohio Ballet in Akron, Ohio, from 2002 to 2005 and as a stage manager for Cedar Fair Entertainment Company in Sandusky, Ohio from 1999 to 2001 and Cleveland Public Theatre from 2000 to 2001.

Academically, Mr. Van Lieu pursued his passion for the performing arts and holds a Bachelor of Arts in theatre from The University of Akron, graduating magna cum laude. To augment his coaching and teaching qualifications, he was certified by the East Baton Rouge Parish School System with a school ancillary personnel certificate in 2007. Additionally, he is certified in CPR & AED by the American Heart Association Inc. and in increased mastery and professional application of coaching theory (IMPACT) by USA Volleyball.

Mr. Van Lieu's involvement with the USA Volleyball AV Coaches Association has significantly contributed to his success and impact on the community. He has been recognized for his coaching excellence with several accolades, including Coach of the Year for the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region 10 by in 2024, Coach of the Year for 3A Region IV by the South Carolina High School League (SCHSL) during the 2018-2019 season and Coach of the Year for Division V District 3 by the Louisiana High School Athletic Association (LHSAA) in 2016.

Born in Barberton, Mr. Van Lieu attributes much of his success to his family's influence during his youth, which instilled valuable life lessons that have shaped his character. He believes that teaching extends beyond the classroom and aims to impart similar lessons through sports to positively impact his students' lives. In the coming years, he aspires to win a national volleyball championship while emphasizing that the true adventure and fulfillment lies in the journey itself.
