Dr. Maia began his career as a registered nurse at RWJBarnabas Health from 2018 to 2020 after initially working at RC for over 15 years, starting in 2002. Becoming highly educated, Dr. Maia's academic journey began with coursework in nursing at Trinitas School of Nursing before receiving a Bachelor of Science in nursing from Saint Elizabeth University in 2018. Subsequently, he earned a master's degree as a family practice nurse in 2021 and a Doctor of Nursing Practice in adult-gerontology primary care in 2024 from California State University Los Angeles.

Dr. Maia is an active member of several industry-related organizations, including the West Hollywood Chambers of Commerce, the American Nurses Association, the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, the American Heart Association Inc., and the American Psychological Association, reflecting his dedication to staying informed about advancements in his field.
