In preparation for her future, Dr. Gitelson received a Bachelor of Arts in history from Barnard College, followed by a Master of International Affairs and a Doctor of Philosophy from Columbia University.

As an accomplished author, Dr. Gitelson penned "Giving Is Not Just For The Very Rich: A How-to Guide for Giving and Philanthropy," which was featured in Reader's Magnet Digest's Best Books of 2024.
