His work at PercAssist has been particularly rewarding, as it led to the design and invention of life-saving technology that stands as the pinnacle of his career.

Dr. Chin's career also included significant contributions to Pavilion Medical Innovations LLC as a co-founder from 2009 to 2012 and Maquet Cardiovascular as the chief innovation officer between 2008 and 2009. His tenure at Boston Scientific Cardiac Surgery as the chief innovation officer from 2007 to 2008 also helped solidify his reputation as a leader in cardiac device innovation.
Among other noteworthy roles, Dr. Chin spent over a decade as the vice president of research at Guidant Cardiac Surgery, where he was instrumental in advancing cardiac surgical techniques between 1994 and 2007. His early career was marked by his role as the co-founder of Origin Medsystems and Saphena Medical, where he laid the foundation for his future successes in medical device development.

Dr. Chin's educational background laid the groundwork for his illustrious career. His academic journey began with a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1975. He subsequently received a Master of Science in mechanical engineering from Stanford University in 1976, followed by coursework in human biology at Stanford University in 1979. Dr. Chin then received a Doctor of Medicine from the University of California San Francisco in 1983 before undertaking a residency in surgery at Parkland Memorial Hospital through the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in 1985.

Throughout his career, Dr. Chin has been awarded an impressive number of patents, accumulating 230, demonstrating his relentless pursuit of innovation and excellence in medical technology. His work has transformed cardiac care and paved the way for advancements in minimally invasive surgeries and gastrointestinal health. Dr. Chin's most notable achievement, however, was developing a device for endoscopic vein harvesting used in 95% of coronary bypass procedures across the U.S. Currently, he is working on an artificial heart project that has shown promising results in safety studies.
