Ms. Straw has built a distinguished career in the legal field, marked by her expertise in mergers and acquisitions, employment, environmental, data privacy, corporate governance, and real estate transactions. With over 45 years of experience, she has made significant contributions to various organizations. Currently serving as a consultant for VCNA U.S. Inc., Ms. Straw has been instrumental in a number of critical business transactions. Previously, she was U.S. general counsel for VCNA from 2009 to 2022. In addition to managing the U.S. legal team, she focused on growth and consolidation transactions and more recently on data privacy and cybersecurity, establishing programs that addressed these critical areas. She was also responsible for designing and implementing training programs covering a broad spectrum of business issues to ensure the company's success. Before joining VCNA U.S. Inc., Ms. Straw was vice president and chief compliance officer at Laidlaw from 2005 to 2008 when the company was sold.

Ms. Straw's legal career began with her role as a regulatory attorney at Santa Fe Railroad and American Hospital Supply. After that she joined Waste Management, Inc. as an environmental attorney and later regional counsel from 1985 to 1995. Her efforts in the field of environmental compliance helped the company improve its environmental record and achieve international recognition for its environmental programs. Ms. Straw and several colleagues formed their own environmental services company, American Disposal Services, Inc., and took it public in 1996. She was pivotal in American Disposal's dramatic growth which facilitated the subsequent sale of the company in a public-to-public merger.

Throughout her career, Ms. Straw has been recognized for creative solutions to complex legal issues and for her effective communication style within the executive suite and with third parties, skills that are important in promoting the efficient decision making and problem solving critical to the success of any organization.

Ms. Straw's educational background includes a bachelor's degree magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa in 1974 and a Doctor of Jurisprudence in 1978 from Indiana University Bloomington. Her studies abroad at the University of London enhanced her writing skills and allowed her to form important business relationships and lifelong friendships.

In addition to her professional accomplishments, Ms. Straw is an active member of several industry-related organizations, including the American Bar Association and the Society of Corporate Compliance and Ethics. Beyond her professional life, she is deeply committed to civic engagement. She is a tutor at the Chicago Jesuit Academy and has been involved as a national advisory board member with the Society of Corporate Compliance and Ethics, as well as a board member at Literacy Volunteers of Western Cook County in Chicago. Ms. Straw has contributed numerous articles to professional journals and has frequently participated as a speaker at legal and compliance conferences nationally.

Having worked as corporate secretary and advisory board member with various boards of directors across different industries, Ms. Straw plans to leverage her experience to participate in future legal and board endeavors. Throughout her career Ms. Straw has received several accolades, recognizing her contributions to the legal profession.
