As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Currently serving as a senior acquisition consultant with Alpha Omega Group LLC—a consulting firm contracted by the United States Space Force—Mr. Ferrer has established himself as a distinguished expert in space acquisitions for national security teams. In his role, he directly supports the program executive officer for space sensing and focuses on developing capabilities to provide missile warnings and protect the United States against missile threats. His responsibilities include approving acquisition documents, mentoring younger officers, ensuring that all resources are available to fulfill missions and managing stakeholder engagements to deliver the best capabilities swiftly.
When the United States Space Force was established, Mr. Ferrer was selected to help start the new service and develop the organizational structure for one of its three field commands. He continued this work for two years until his retirement from active duty. Since 2023, he has been consulting for the Space Force, drawing from his extensive background to provide advice on acquisitions and strategic communications.
Mr. Ferrer's career began in 2003 when he joined the United States Air Force as a developmental engineer working on the C-17 cargo aircraft. Though he initially planned to transition to the private sector, he became deeply passionate about the Air Force's role in protecting the nation, leading him to pursue a long-term career within the service. He served as the chief operating officer of the Air Force Recruiting Service from 2006 to 2010 before transitioning to program management roles at the Space Systems Command, where he worked on military communication satellites.
Between 2010 and 2014, Mr. Ferrer expanded his expertise in space acquisitions while stationed at Los Angeles Air Force Base, where he served as the lead for the Space Test & Evaluation Branch and a program manager for the Military Satellite Communications Directorate. Toward the end of that assignment, he deployed to Afghanistan, serving as the deputy commander for the Southern Afghanistan Defense Contracting Management Agency. Upon returning in 2014, he transitioned to the Pentagon, where he held the role of program element monitor for the Combat Rescue Helicopter and concluded his tour as the executive officer for the Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Acquisitions. In 2017, he returned to Los Angeles Air Force Base and led a team of over 900 personnel, accelerating a highly classified space program by 20 percent and delivering its capabilities a full year ahead of schedule, an achievement that remains one of the most significant highlights of his distinguished career.
Mr. Ferrer's academic endeavors have contributed significantly to his success. He holds a Master of Science in military operational art and science studies from Air Command and Staff College, a Master of Science in industrial engineering from St. Mary's University and a Bachelor of Science in industrial engineering from the University of Puerto Rico at Mayaguez. Raised by his mother in a small town in Puerto Rico, he attributes his success to determination and perseverance through challenging times.
To commemorate his accomplishments, Mr. Ferrer was recognized with service medals from both the United States Air Force and Space Force. Additionally, he received the Defense Meritorious Service Medal and Joint Service Commendation Medal for his contributions to Operation Enduring Freedom.
In addition to his professional success, Mr. Ferrer is the author of "Verses from the Heart (Tides of Desire Book 1)." Published in 2024, it is the first volume in an ambitious series of poems that blend life lessons with romance, further highlighting his diverse array of talents.
Outside of his career, Mr. Ferrer is dedicated to motivating young people from all backgrounds to reach for the stars as humans advance into space exploration and technology. He enjoys challenging activities such as running triathlons, competing in Ironman events, bodybuilding and writing. As a single father to a daughter, he aims to create opportunities for future generations of space explorers through education and mentorship programs.
