After semi-retiring in 2013 and starting several companies, he was recruited to join Ortho Dev America by the Eqwal Group in France, seeking someone to lead their U.S. operations.

In addition to his primary position, Mr. Sabel founded Sabel Ventures in 2021, where he continues to serve as chief executive officer. He also held the role of executive chairman at OHI Group from 2019 to 2021, after serving as its chief executive officer from 2013 to 2019. His career is marked by a significant tenure at Hanger Inc., where he served as chief executive officer and chairman from 1969 to 2013. During his time there, he was pivotal in transforming the company into a billion-dollar enterprise, which now generates $1.3 billion in revenue.

Mr. Sabel's educational background laid a strong foundation for his career achievements. He earned a Bachelor of Science in prosthetics and orthotics from New York University in 1967, being among the first ten graduates of this pioneering program. His early education at Valley Forge Military Academy & College, where he graduated with a diploma in 1963, initially set him on a path toward a military career. However, influenced by his family's legacy in orthopedic footwear manufacturing and his mother's encouragement, he pursued a career in prosthetics and orthotics.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Mr. Sabel has been actively involved with several civic-minded organizations. He has served as a board member of the American Orthotic & Prosthetic Association and held several leadership roles, such as former chairman of the board at Hanger Inc. and board member positions at Beverly Enterprises, BJ Orthopedics and Nursefinders. His contributions to the field have been recognized with a Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Orthotic & Prosthetic Association.

In his personal life, Mr. Sabel enjoys spending time with his family, which includes four children and six grandchildren. Looking ahead professionally, he intends to further develop Ortho Dev America, continuing to make significant contributions to the field of prosthetics and orthotics. As a certified prosthetist and orthotist, he attributes his professional success to his passion for his work and his commitment to helping those less fortunate than himself.
