Mr. Roberts is a distinguished professional in the field of civil engineering and project management. He has served as the director of community development and infrastructure planning for the Village of Matteson since 2020, and in this capacity, he capably supervises a team of eight associates and focuses on code enforcement, building services and engineering management for consultants. Mr. Roberts also deals with infrastructure planning and budgeting, secures grants and oversees federal projects that come through the village.

In addition to his leadership role with the Village of Matteson, Mr. Roberts concurrently acts as the president and chief executive officer of Roberts Consulting Engineers PLLC, where he offers strategic leadership and consulting services to a broad client base. Before launching his small business, he was a senior engineer at Robinson Engineering Ltd. from 2010 to 2019. During this time, Mr. Roberts was proud to collaborate with multiple stakeholders, including the Will County Division of Transportation, to acquire $10 million in grant funding toward completion of a substantial roadway reconstruction project in University Park.

From 2003 to 2010, Mr. Roberts excelled as a project manager at Infrastructure Engineering Inc., where he advanced his skills in overseeing complex engineering projects. He initiated his career at Illinois Department of Transportation in Schaumburg, Illinois as a project engineer from 1993 to 2003. Throughout his career, Mr. Roberts has maintained membership in several organizations, including the National Society of Black Engineers, the American Society of Civil Engineers, Region Leaders and the Project Management Institute (PMI).

Mr. Roberts's educational accomplishments include a Bachelor of Engineering in civil engineering from Northwestern University, which he obtained in 1993. He has also obtained distinct certifications that reflect his passion for continuous learning including the designation of project management professional (PMP) from the Project Management Institute and professional engineer licenses from the states of Illinois, Indiana and Ohio. Notably, Mr. Roberts actively seeks civic service opportunities and is affiliated with the Living Word Christian Center and the Men's Round Table, and he serves as a board member for Work Study Enterprises.

Mr. Roberts is a dedicated father to two children. Looking toward the future, he plans to expand Roberts Consulting Engineers PLLC and promote his 2024 book, "The Law of Biblical Mechanics: Principles and Processes for Management and Stewardship," which merges biblical principles with emotional intelligence concepts to address leadership management and effective stewardship. Additionally, Mr. Roberts will pursue more speaking engagements, coaching consultations and opportunities to partner with organizations related to organizational development.
