Mr. Skillingstad's academic credentials include a Juris Doctor focusing on American Indian/Native American studies from the Blewett School of Law at the University of Montana in 2010. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Scandinavian studies and Norwegian from the University of Washington, which he completed in 2008. Additionally, Mr. Skillingstad pursued coursework at the University of Oslo in 2003 and earned a certificate in American Indian Law. His educational background has been pivotal in shaping his legal acumen and success.

Beyond his professional achievements, Mr. Skillingstad has been actively involved in civic organizations. From 2019 to 2020, he served as a NOVA pro bono volunteer attorney with the San Antonio Bar Association. In 2019, his contributions were recognized with the Air Force Achievement Medal.

In his personal life, Mr. Skillingstad was born in Seattle and is a father to two children. He enjoys traveling, writing, reading and photography.
