Miniweb Selects MPP to Power Interactive TV Payment Transactions

MPP and Miniweb, today announced the integration of MPP's iPay Developer payment solution into Miniweb's interactive platform.

WARRINGTON, ENGLAND, May 19, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- MPP and Miniweb, the Interactive Service Provider that is enabling internet video, interactivity and targeted, web-style advertising on TV, today announced the integration of MPP's iPay Developer payment solution into Miniweb's interactive platform. This enables network operators, TV device manufacturers and content owners to deliver centralised, secure content payment services to millions of TV viewers through broadband connected TV devices.

The integration of MPP's e-commerce solution into Miniweb's platform will enable content owners to set up secure payment services quickly and easily. Viewers will be able to store their payment details securely before paying for goods and services, one-off or recurring subscriptions to video or music content, taking part in competitions and voting.

iPay Developer is an eCommerce payment gateway which enables Miniweb to implement a range of payment and subscription tools. The service is equipped with MPP's leading eWallet technology to enable consumers to make easy repeat purchases at the press of a button. Other features provided by MPP include a fully equipped support console to easily manage customer enquiries and an advanced management console for instant snapshots of account statistics, account history, number of subscribers, as well as reporting for data mining and analysis.

"Internet video and interactive content on the TV are becoming more and more prevalent and we are delighted to be involved at ground level as they become eCommerce-enabled," commented Paul Johnson, CEO at MPP. "Miniweb's platform enables a range of more enhanced content to be provided through the TV. The industry as a whole has been exploring methods of monetizing these additional services and we are looking forward to this partnership providing these opportunities."

The increasing rise in homes with broadband connectivity means that more viewers can now benefit from a personalised TV experience by connecting their TV set-top box to their broadband internet connection. This brings broadcast and broadband together in the living room for the first time, giving viewers access to a wide range of enhanced entertainment services through their TV. Miniweb's platform enables content owners, network operators and device manufacturers to benefit from new revenue streams as viewers consume this online content delivered to the TV.

Andrew Carver, CEO, Miniweb Interactive adds: "With broadcast and broadband converging, viewers will no longer have to go to a PC or phone to purchase something they've just seen on TV. Our consumer research shows that people want to make purchases directly via the remote control whilst still in front of their TV. It is therefore important for us to have a secure payment service that makes it easy for consumers to pay for entertainment services or buy products using their remote. We are pleased to include MPP's iPay Developer within our interactive services platform to provide new revenue opportunities for network operators and content owners, bringing consumer spending from the web to the TV."

Miniweb's open, standards-based platform reaches more than 9 million TV homes and allows content owners to reach more TV devices across multiple TV networks, providing an ever increasing market for the monetization of their content that can be cost effectively delivered over broadband to enhance broadcasted programming. Miniweb was recently announced as winner of the 'Best Interactive Service / Application 2009' Award at the IPTV World Series Award Ceremony in London.
