America Needs Me Gives Some Insight As To What The Life Of A Musician On The Road Entails And Seeks To Develop A Modern Musical

America Needs Me welcomes the online journal of Protagonist bassist, Marcus Kora and announces development of a new musical endeavor for stage.

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL, June 02, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- In the interest of elucidating the vibrant necessity of independent music and musicians in the United States, America Needs Me proudly announces two innovative ideas.

The first is one that we hope will spur on the indie musicians who can make good use of the information available at www.americaneedsme.com; a tour journal from one of the honest to goodness indie musicians of our day.

For those who don't know the band, Protagonist, they are a driving punk rock band out of South Florida who can be considered the forward guard of the new music revolution in America.

They have CDs, and play live shows as often as they can. They go on tour and sell their merchandise and do it for the thrill of the music and the earnest attempt to make a living by doing what they love.

And it is that industrious spirit, that ingenuity and relentless pursuit of the perfection of their craft that represents the very ideals inherent in America. Their bassist, Marcus Kora, has agreed to post journal entries at www.americaneedsme.com/forums in the section marked for "Artists in Florida" that depicts life on the road for musicians.

Our idea is to dispel some of the myths surrounding the experience of touring. The hope is to educate, and perhaps inspire other musicians as to the triumphs, perils and general reality of being on the road. Protagonist has their tour planned through September, and information about their venture can be found at www.myspace.com/protagonist but the individual journal by their bassist will have weekly updates. If you are a person living along their tour route, I suggest going to see them.

Now, second, and this is a fairly big announcement, the owner and operator of America Needs Me is composing a two act musical. "That'll Teach 'Em" tells the story of James Crea, a college professor who returns to teaching after five years of exile he imposed upon himself because a student quoted his lesson in her suicide note.
The students, staff and other professors in the fictional U.S. university have their lives entwined for two semesters and the overlapping tales touch upon important issues and topics through song and dance meant to enliven the audience and stand as an honest expression of human artistic talent on stage.

We are currently looking for a venue willing to attempt the staging of this work, and are hoping to undertake the casting process in the months to come for singers, dancers, and musicians.

Since we've had few takers for the Indie Tour Circuit, we figured we could show people that independent music and performance need not be a traditional rock band playing at a bar, but can also be a larger show venturing into theaters.

We hope both endeavors bode well for the spirit of America; prodding the US citizens to experience the intriguing joys of live entertainment.
