ATLANTA, GA, June 3, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Ronnie L. Jowers, Vice President of Health Affairs and Chief Financial Officer of Woodruff Health Sciences Center of Emory University, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of financial management.
A 33-year veteran of his field, Mr. Jowers is widely lauded for the part he played in saving the Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing at Emory University. Now on his 18th year as vice president of health affairs and CFO of Woodruff Health Sciences Center, he is in charge of managing the finances of the academic health center, budgeting, controlling the flow of funds, handling finance construction duties, and assisting with academic administration. Mr. Jowers considers managing financing for the construction and maintenance of academic, research and healthcare facilities to be one of the most stimulating and rewarding aspect of his career. He attributes his success to a combination of hard work and good fortune, as well as to the support he receives from his family.
Mr. Jowers earned his MBA from Clemson University in 1984 and his Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Business Administration from Furman University in 1973. He sits as vice chairman of the board of directors of Emory-Adventist Hospital, as a member of the board of Emory Johns Creek Hospital and Emory-Eastside Hospital, and has served as a board member of Clifton Casualty Insurance Company Ltd. Additionally, Mr. Jowers serves on the planning committee of the Association of Academic Health Centers and as treasurer of his local Homeowners' Association. He serves on the Developmental Disabilities Ministries, Inc. Board of Trustees and on the board of Pathways Leadership for Progress, Inc. In his spare time, he volunteers his services to his churches, helping with budgets and finance. Mr. Jowers was inducted into Cambridge Who's Who as a VIP member in 2008.
