Thermafiber, Inc. Celebrates its 75th Anniversary

    WABASH, IN, June 10, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Thermafiber, Inc. is proud to announce that June 6th, 2009 is the company's 75th Anniversary. Founded as American Rock Wool in 1934, Thermafiber's main manufacturing plant in Wabash Indiana has served as the backbone for the company's success. In 1959, American Rock Wool was purchased by United States Gypsum (USG). In 1996, USG sold Thermafiber and since that time the company has been privately held and headquartered in Wabash.

Thermafiber manufactures mineral wool insulation products for buildings and industrial applications. Mineral wool is made from slag, a by-product of the steel industry, and other naturally occurring minerals. These raw materials give the finished products very high recycled content, excellent fire resistant properties, and energy saving thermal protection.

Since the 1970's Thermafiber has been a leader in developing life safety systems for high-rise buildings that protect building occupants and prevent the spread of fire. Thermafiber insulation products have been installed in 5 of the 7 tallest buildings in the world. Most recently, Thermafiber supplied the Burj Dubai Tower in Dubai, U.A.E., currently the tallest building in the world. Other notable buildings include the World Trade Center Building #7, Sears Tower, and Taipei 101 in Taiwan. Thermafiber will also be supplying material to One World Trade Center (formerly Freedom Tower) as it is constructed in New York City.
