DALLAS, TX, July 13, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Five bright and talented college students were recently awarded scholarships by SPENDonLIFE.com, a website dedicated to educating students and consumers about the importance of healthy credit.
The SPENDonLIFE.com Credit Challenged scholarship was open to those students who--because of poor credit--could not qualify for the loans they needed to continue their education. The credit crunch has been especially tough for those college students who depend on loans from banks, private firms, and the government. Credit scores must now be higher than ever to qualify for these loans. Not surprisingly, SPENDonLIFE.com received over 3,000 applications from students in need of additional financing for the 2009-2010 school year.
Applicants were asked to write essays explaining how the credit crunch had personally impacted them. These essays not only described the hardships faced by so many of the applicants, but also revealed the students' fierce commitment to succeed despite those hardships.
The five SPENDonLIFE.com student scholarship winners are:
• Amanda Tolson at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas
• Susan Ware at Auburn University
• Danielle Joiner at the University of North Florida
• Kristin Keraga at Duquesne University
• Jhaurel Johnson at Texas A&M, Prairie View
