BEDMINSTER, NJ, August 10, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Standing before an audience of more than 300 New York area attendees last Monday evening , British theorist Anthony Peake gave a brilliant address, explaining his binary mind theory to a packed house in the famous Grand Ballroom of the Roosevelt Hotel on Madison Avenue, Midtown East, Manhattan. The event was hosted by Gnosis Arts Multimedia and New York Philosophy.
Introduced by Martin Huxter of London and John Broughton of New York Philosophy, Peake held forth in an exuberant discourse which revolved around his eternal recurrence theory. Pacing on the platform of one of the most famous venues in Manhattan, Peake was congenial and exercised a rapid grace in his speech and movements. His "Cheating the Ferryman" theory is an hypothesis which Peake explained was "woven together" from data and disciplines as diverse as quantum physics, neurology, cognitive psychology, and studies on mental illness and temporal lobe epilepsy, among others. The theory has as its underpinning the doctrine of eternal recurrence, first set forth in popular form by German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche over a century ago. Peake is author of two books, "The Extraordinary Science of What Happens When We Die" (Chartwell Books, 2006) and "The Daemon" (Arcturus Publishing, 2008). He is a professional member of the International Scientific and Medical Network, and this past July was honored platform lecturer for the National Theatre in London.
Of the the 300 members who attended the event, the percentage which gave reviews were overwhelmingly favorably impressed by Peake. A section of the audience were rationlist scientists and philosophers; some had not been able to fully confirm the nuances and details given in the lecture, and wanted more data and scientific bolstering. Indeed, some remarked that the complexity of Peake's thesis might easily lend itself to a 4 hour lecture or panel discussion with intermission.
There is no doubt that Mr. Peake - who has a third book pending before his publishers - can command a lecture and discussion period with a crowd this size in the mecca city of intellectual discourse, and that in doing so has proven his tenacity and talent in no small measure. Many New Yorkers are already looking forward to a part two. Said John Broughton, founder of New York Philosophy, who co-hosted the event with Gnosis Arts Multimedia: "There are some, like myself, who go into the physics end of the philosophical theory. Peake left us hungry for more, which is a good thing. It was a fantastic evening which generated much thought among New Yorkers, which was exactly it's purpose, so I'm pleased."
