DALLAS, TX, August 21, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- To celebrate Bad Poetry Day, SpendOnLife.com will host a Bad Poetry Contest with a prize of up to $1,000 awarded to the winner to pay down their credit card balance.
The contest starts on August 18, 2009 and ends September 1, 2009. During this time, contestants are invited to submit one poem per day related to credit or debt. All contest submissions must be an original work of the poet and may be written in any style or format. Performance poetry on video will also be accepted and entries will be judged on creativity.
All submissions will be posted on SpendOnLife's blog anonymously, unless the author requests to be identified. A panel of popular personal finance bloggers will select a winner to be announced on Wednesday, September 9th.
This contest is the latest offered by SpendOnLife. Other contests have included scholarships to help students supplement the expensive cost of receiving an advanced education.
"Credit card companies have created additional stress for many in debt with their ever changing rules. Although the CARD Act will help some of these issues, companies still have time to create terms that are not beneficial for consumers prior to its implementation," said Carrie Davis, lead columnist at SpendOnLife. "It will be nice to give someone a leg up on getting rid of their debt."
