MANCHESTER, ENGLAND, September 03, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Kicking off on September 10th, Flamenco is an 11-day festival dedicated to the traditional gypsy dance and one which promises to be hugely entertaining.
The event is organised by the Rome Music Foundation and takes place in and around the Auditorium Parco della Musica, which is within easy reach of most hotels.
Those attending the festival will find a packed programme of events on offer, with the three main categories of flamenco represented - cante el, el baile and el toque - which is the music of the guitar accompanied by the rhythm of the hands and feet.
As well as watching dance performances, visitors will have the opportunity to try flamenco out for themselves by taking part in one of the many masterclasses on offer.
In addition, there will be several music concerts, exhibitions and special events to enjoy over the course of the festival.
Some of the performers and bands set to make an appearance this year include guitarist Juan Manuel, Esperanza Fernandez and renowned dancer Isabel Bayon.
Also due to take to the stage is the Perico Sambeat Flamenco Big Band, Rocio Molina and Diego el Cigala.
The art of flamenco dancing developed over several centuries and became popular in Andalucia during the early 19th century as a form of cafe entertainment.
