Ernest L. Batz, Sr. "The Flying Dutchman," Honored for Excellence in Musical Performance

    PALMDALE, CA, September 4, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Ernest L. Batz, Sr., Musician with Dutchman Enterprises, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of musical performance.

"High energy" and "toe-tappin'" - just a few of the terms that describe the musical sounds of Ernest L. Batz, Sr., more popularly know as 'The Flying Dutchman.' With an excess of 66 years of professional experience in musical composition and performance, he has truly made an impact on the genre of Western Swing. A one-man band, Mr. Batz plays a myriad of instruments including the accordion, drums and cymbals. He has made multiple appearances on television and radio shows and performed with high-profile musical talent including The Oakridge Boys, Bill Anderson, the Blue Ridge Quartet, Little Jimmy Dickens and Wilma Lee and Stoney Cooper. Active in his local community, Mr. Batz makes frequent appearances at company carnivals, fairs, senior homes and churches, and sings his songs in German, Pennsylvania Dutch and English.

Having made an impact on the Dutchman label in 1964 with early hits and old-time favorites the likes of "Silver Bells" and "Too Skinny Polka," Mr. Batz' most recent work, "Trip to Las Vegas" was released in 2006. The album is a fun listening experience for the entire family, the sounds of which recall thoughts of "the good old days."

In recognition of accomplishments in his field, Mr. Batz was named VIP of the Year by Cambridge Publishing in 2008. He was also profiled as a featured artist on dailynews.com in 2003. His professional affiliations include Professional Musicians Local 47 and the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers. Particularly proud to have had his music forever immortalized on 45 rpm vinyl LP, Mr. Batz has no intentions to stop making music. Looking to the future, he intends to record a gospel music DVD and complete his biography. Mr. Batz is currently seeking someone to write a book on the life story of Ernest L. Batz, Sr., 'The Flying Dutchman' one-man band, and how he started, the ups and downs, and how he got to where he is now. He has four children, including a set of twins named Cindy and Randy, and two boys named Ernie, Jr. and Rickey, Sr. He has nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren and he hopes that one of his children will learn to become a one-man band like him.
