COLUMBUS, OH, September 09, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- OhioHealth announced the appointment of three new members to its Board of Directors . The new board members are:
• Peter George, MD - Medical Staff President, Riverside Methodist Hospital
• John P. McConnell - Chairman and CEO, Worthington Industries, Inc.
• Steve Rasmussen - CEO, Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company

OhioHealth, a not-for-profit family of hospitals and healthcare services based in Columbus, Ohio, employs nearly 15,000 people and is the largest healthcare system in central Ohio. The board consists of 20 members who serve a term of three years and who can serve a maximum of three terms.
John P. McConnell, chairman and chief executive officer of Worthington Industries, Inc., has worked for Worthington Industries for 35 years in various capacities, including time as a general laborer in the steel plant. McConnell worked his way up to chief executive officer and has held this title since 1993.
Being involved in the community is very important to McConnell as he is an active member of various community organizations and has served on the boards of the Greater Columbus Chamber of Commerce, Nationwide Children's Hospital, the YMCA and the Columbus Zoological Association.
He is the majority owner of the Columbus Blue Jackets National Hockey League franchise and is a chairman of the Columbus Blue Jackets Foundation.
Steve Rasmussen is the chief executive officer of Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company, a position he has held since February 2009. Prior to that, he served as chief operating officer of property and casualty operations. Rasmussen serves on multiple boards including the National Urban League, Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, and the Columbus Metropolitan Library.
Nationwide, based in Columbus, is one of the largest and strongest diversified insurance and financial services organizations in the world, ranking No. 108 on the Fortune 500 list.
Peter George, MD is a practicing cardiologist with MidOhio Cardiology and Vascular Consultants and is Medical Staff President at Riverside Methodist Hospital.
In addition to receiving his undergraduate degree from Wright State University and medical degree from The Ohio State University College of Medicine, Dr. George also completed a cardiology fellowship at William Beaumont Hospital. He is a Clinical Investigator with MidWest Cardiology Research Foundation and holds an MBA from The Ohio State University Fisher College of Business.
George has contributed time and professional expertise through volunteer work at the Physicians Free Clinic and Cardiology Clinic in Columbus.
