Dr. James K. McCollum Honored for Excellence in International Business Management

Dr. James K. McCollum is the author of seven books



    Huntsville, AL, September 18, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. James K. McCollum, Professor Emeritus of Management of the University of Alabama in Huntsville has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in higher education and business management.

Dr. James K. McCollum is a recognized expert in the field of international business management with a focus on Eastern Europe. Prior to his retirement, he was a full professor at UAHuntsville from 1989 to 1998 and has continued in a support role for the university to the present time. Before Joining UAHuntsville in 1984, he was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Management at Auburn University's College of Business from 1979 to 1984. Dr. McCollum was a Visiting Professor at the Lucian Blaga University in Sibiu, Romania in 1996, a Visiting Professor in the University of Maryland's European Program in Germany, Iceland, and Hungary from 1998 & 1999, a Visiting Professor at the American University in Bulgaria, Blagoevgrad, Bulgaria in 2000 & 2001, and a Visiting Professor at the Romanian-American University from 2005-2009.

Dr. McCollum received his first Fulbright Scholarship to Romania in 1991, a second Fulbright Scholarship to Romania in 2003 and a Fulbright Senior Specialist Award in 2005. From 1994 to 1996, he worked as Project Manager in the USIA CEETP Romanian Interns in the U.S. This program allowed him to bring 53 Romanian managers to the U.S. to work as interns in Huntsville, Alabama businesses. In 2004, he organized a cooperative program with Romanian educational institutions for a Summer Study Abroad program for UAHuntsville students. To date, 54 American students and 45 Romanian students have learned together in this program.

He is the author or co-author of several books, 51 journal articles, 53 meeting papers and 20 book reviews. His published books include Applied Business Management (2009), Project Management: an Applied Approach (2005), Romania Opening All of the Doors (2003), and Is Communism Dead Forever? (1998).

Dr. McCollum is a retired U.S. Army Officer with 20 years of service, including two tours of duty in Germany and two tours of duty in Vietnam. His educational achievements include: Ph.D. from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University with a major in management and a minor in public administration in 1979, Master of Arts in Public Administration from the University of Cincinnati in 1971; Master of Arts in Political Science from the University of Dayton in 1968; and Bachelor of Science in Engineering at the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1960. He is a member of Alpha Kappa Psi and Beta Gamma Sigma business fraternities.
