LARCHMONT, NY, October 08, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- On Monday, October 12, at 6:00 pm, Clarke Auction, Westchester's Premier Auction Gallery, will open its autumn season with its deepest and best catalog of 2009, and of recent years. The sale was created from estates across Greater New York including Yonkers, Bronxville, the Hamptons, Greenwich, Bedford Village, Park Avenue, Riverdale, White Plains, and Larchmont itself.
Memorabilia consists of estate-fresh items from the 1930's such as a signed Babe Ruth baseball, vintage bats, glass plate negatives of Hornsby, Gehrig, DiMaggio, Dazzy Vance, Manush, and Hubbell, Old Boxing Matches, and plates of Charles Lindbergh and the Spirit of St Louis, all as found in a Greenwich basement. In addition, a Jersey estate provided original prints from Sports Illustrated - Baseball, World Series, Track and Field, Olympics - including an iconic image of Bill Maseroski's 1960 Series-ending HR against the Yankees.
Antique Furniture include a Georgian Triple Pedestal Dining Table, a 18th C. French Inlaid Commode, 18th C. Louis XV chairs, a 18th-19th C. Open Armchair, a 18th C. Oak Gateleg, 19th C. American chests and numerous other Continental and American pieces. This sale is particularly strong in antique furniture.
Midcentury Modern highlights are a Paul Evans Two-Door Cabinet, Eames Chair and Ottoman, a signed Karl Springer Brass and Glass endtable, a Brown Lacquer and Chrome Pierre Cardin Server, a Multi-toned Bone Coffee Table, possibly Springer; a Mont-style Floor Lamp, Ege Axminster and RYA Carpets, Janus Desk, Curtis Jere Lamp, Lucite pieces, and an Architect-designed Green Glass Cube and Glass Dining Table.
