LOS ANGELES, CA, November 13, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Breakdown Services, Ltd., the original in online services for talent agents, managers, casting directors and actors, was awarded a judgment last week of over $1,300,000 against Brian Burke for illegally selling breakdowns over the internet.
Breakdown Services receives scripts from casting directors, breaks the scripts down into the various roles and then releases the "breakdowns" to licensed talent agents so they may submit their clients to casting directors for roles in the script.
Breakdown Services filed suit against Burke after discovering that he was selling the company's breakdowns to actors through email solicitations. Burke was sued for unfair competition, unfair business practices and interference with Breakdown Services' business opportunities. A judgment of $1,300,000 was awarded to Breakdown Services. The judgment also permanently restrains Burke from continuing to illegally sell the breakdowns.
"Breakdown Services intends to vigorously enforce this judgment," said Breakdown Services' attorney, Steven P. Krakowsky, Esq. "Breakdown Services will ask the Court to have Burke held in contempt of court if he ever illegally sells our breakdowns again."
This is not the first time that Breakdown Services has been awarded a judgment against an individual who has unlawfully sold or copied its breakdowns. The company will continue to prosecute claims against anyone who pirates or sells its proprietary materials.
