HAUPPAUGE, NY, December 10, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- To describe Tennis Cruise as a unique event for tennis enthusiasts is an understatement.
Tennis vacations normally come in two flavors. One, for players, you have the tennis resorts and camps that supply hour after hour of gut wrenching tennis instructions, drills, and match play. Two, for spectators, you have the hotel packages that include tickets to a professional tournament.
These options are fine, but what if you want both- at the same time.
Bob Lovinger, founder of Tennis Cruise has put together just that. Tennis Cruise combines a luxury cruise, tennis playing at ports of call, tennis celebrities, and attendance at a top professional tournament at an extremely affordable price.
Lovinger says his own family was his inspiration, "In my home, my daughter and I love to watch and play tennis while my wife and son have little interest. Tennis Cruise allows all of us to get what we want out of a vacation."
Lovinger admits that Tennis Cruise may not fit the bill for die-hard players that want their six to eight hours of tennis each day. "Tennis Cruise is more of a vacation with a tennis flavor. Tennis enthusiasts will get it all, but they won't get an abundance of tennis playing. But hopefully they will get enough to quench their tennis thirst."
Based on the early returns, Tennis Cruise has reached a very broad audience both in terms of age and skill level. According to Lovinger, he has players that range in age from 16 to 85 and skill levels from beginners to advanced.
The key seems to be that all almost everyone loves to cruise and injecting tennis into the equation is the clincher for enthusiasts of the sport.
Tennis Cruise currently has two events schedule for 2010 and have an additional two events in the planning stage.
The Sony Ericsson Open Tennis Cruise sets sail from Miami on March 21, 2010 in route to Costa Maya, Mexico, Belize, Cozumel, and Grand Cayman aboard the luxury liner Royal Caribbean Liberty of the Seas and features tennis legends Fred Stolle and Owen Davidson. The US Open Tennis Cruise takes place from August 28 to September 2, 2010 and sails from New York to Bermuda aboard the Royal Caribbean Explorer of the Seas. Each event begins the night before sailing with a meet and greet followed the next morning by a tennis playing event.
Prices for both events start at $1049 per person.
