Toulouse-Lautrec Exhibition Captures "The Nostalgia" Of The Moulin Rouge

    PARIS, December 12, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Toulouse-Lautrec may be one of the most famous artists to have emerged from France and his work is likely to conjure up imagines of dancing, frivolity and, of course, the Moulin Rouge for many people staying at hotels in Paris.

If this is the case, then one exhibition being held until January 3rd 2010 may interest people who are fans of his paintings and prints.

Les Arts Decoratifs is housing 26 of the 31 posters created by the artists to depict the spirit of Montmartre, "the nostalgia of a legendary Belle Epoque" and reinvent where "the Black Cat was the centre of the world", the organisation notes.

As well as getting a glimpse of these works, visitors will also be able to view them while taking in pieces from 100 contemporary artists from 45 countries who paid homage to Toulouse-Lautrec's works following his death in 2001.

Les Arts Decoratifs states that they "attest to the timeliness and vitality" of his work.

The exhibition is entitled New Salon des Cent and it costs EUR8 for adults and EUR6.50 for concessions.

Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec was born in 1864 and was played by John Leguizamo in Baz Luhrman's 2001 film Moulin Rouge.
