CHINO, CA, December 14, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- First-time homebuyers Eddie and Celin Guan discovered Candlewood at The Preserve in Chino early this year, along with the surprising and delightful realization that they could make a new Candlewood home theirs. "We did not expect to find a brand new home that would work for our price range, but we were hoping to find something newer than the townhouse we were renting in Alhambra," said Celin. "Then we found Candlewood!"
Priced from the low $400,000s, Candlewood is a limited collection of detached homes with approximately 2,501 to 3,276 square feet of living space, plus two- and three-bay tandem garages. Wrapped in refined exterior architecture, the two- and three-story designs provide up to 6 bedrooms and 4 baths, and feature distinctive layouts and multiple room options.
Celin and Eddie picked Plan One, praising its size and design. "The home is perfect for us, with plenty of room and modern design that lets the sunshine in," said Celin, who came to California from China's Guang Dong province, near Hong Kong.
Plan One features a formal dining room and a casual great room with media/fireplace, a large breakfast nook and large kitchen with optional island. Off the side courtyard, a detached office space can be optioned as a casita with bath, which was the choice for the Guan household.
"I love our casita," said Celin. "Sometimes we want to spend time here just because it's separate from the house, plus we can cool or heat it separately from the house."
Upstairs, Plan One provides three bedrooms and two baths, including a luxurious, compartmented master suite. Both secondary bedrooms overlook the courtyard, and a large loft can be optioned as a fourth bedroom. Celin reports the space and choices on this level have provided comfortable quarters for her in-laws, who have lived with the Guans while looking for their new home.
"The home is good, the neighborhood is beautiful and the whole community feels quiet and safe to us," said Celin. "Every day after dinner we walk around and enjoy the fresh air and the beauty all around us in The Preserve. Also, we have lots of choices for dining and everything else we need in Chino Hills, so this is a very good community for us."
Celin works part time and is pursuing her MBA with California State/LA, while Eddie is a working professional in the City of Industry. Celin reports multiple visits to Candlewood before the two made their decision to purchase.
"Eddie and I came many times to see more and learn more about the homes here and about the community," she said. "Then we decided to buy, and we're glad we did.
"Our sales representative, Alan Gooch, really was helpful," she added. "We had a lot of choices to consider and decisions to make, and he was very good at explaining everything as we went through the purchase process."
Alan Gooch, sales representative for Candlewood, said Celin and Eddie have been settled since February in their new home. "We are proud of the quality and value we offer at Candlewood, and we are delighted that the Guans agree!" he said.
Design advantages at Candlewood include easy access to the outdoors, via charming courtyards and generous rear yards that are nicely connected to family, dining and kitchen spaces. Among Candlewood's price-included enrichments are integrated high tech wiring for video, telephone, data and networking needs; custom-crafted staircases; and gourmet kitchens with a stainless steel Whirlpool appliance package and stylish beech or maple cabinetry. Among the optional choices are crown molding room packages, built-in media centers, garage storage systems, exterior holiday light outlets, KitchenAid appliances and spa jets in the master bath.

The Parkhouse, a private 15,000-square foot recreation features a junior Olympic pool, large game room, billiards room, fitness center, surround sound theatre, meeting rooms, tennis courts, tot lots, gardens and open lawns on over three acres of land. The Preserve is also planned to include an eight-acre sports park and 33 acres devoted to the planned parks, walkway systems, trails and greenbelts.
"The Parkhouse is a wonderful facility," said Celin. "Among other things, it has a barbecue and when we have friends visiting we hosted them to a barbecue supper."
Recently opened at The Preserve is the K-8 Cal Aero Preserve Academy. An International Baccalaureate applicant, it is part of The Chino Valley Unified School District.
