DALLAS, TX, December 31, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Steve Byrd, a plastic surgeon in Dallas, is already a trusted resource for local patients seeking answers to plastic surgery questions, but with the launch of a new blog on his site, he soon may be helping patients all over the world make better surgical decisions. Dr. Byrd (www.drstevebyrd.com), a board-certified plastic surgeon with a reputation for high quality results in surgeries like liposuction and breast augmentation for Dallas women, is launching the blog as part of his ongoing efforts to help plastic surgery patients make informed surgical choices.
"Online research still isn't a substitute for a real, one-on-one consultation, but it's the first place that most patients today are going for answers, and I wanted to make sure they have a reliable voice to turn to," explains Dr. Byrd. "Plastic surgery is a complex art, but it doesn't have to be confusing, and I want to give patients an easier way to get information that can really make a difference in the procedures they choose."
Dr. Byrd is already an active contributor to RealSelf.com, a site where doctors can respond to cosmetic surgery-related questions, but while he feels this resource is increasingly important to help plastic surgery patients get the facts on different procedures, he wanted to do more. In part, he says, he decided to branch out into blogging because the format will give him more space to provide details about the many important questions that Dallas plastic surgery patients may not know enough to ask.
"When I'm meeting with new patients at my office, some of the most important issues we'll talk about have to do with specifics you won't find on the plastic surgery information sites," he explains. "My blog gives me the chance to share why I favor certain placement options for breast implant surgery in Dallas, or why certain rhinoplasty methods tend to take a little longer to heal."
Dr. Byrd hopes to see his blog help dispel some of the common myths and misinformation that often surround plastic surgery, and help patients make well-informed decisions about their cosmetic options.
"A consultation is still an absolute must for good surgical planning, but I think the blog gives my patients a good way to set the right expectations from the beginning," he says. "If I can do my part to help patients make the right choices and get results that are much better than just 'average,' I'll count the blog a big success."
