LONDON, ENGLAND, January 01, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- With traditional New Year celebrations costing more than ever before - despite the recession - more of us are finding other ways to have fun and online bingo is emerging as a clear winner.
Now a new survey on behalf of www.OnlineBingoClub.co.uk has found 73% of the British public plan to celebrate the New Year at home rather than down the boozer.
And while many stay at home revellers plan to enjoy a few drinks and the telly, a surprising number (44%) said they'd be online enjoying a few games of bingo.
But as Britons tighten their belts after Christmas, more than half of us (52%) will be spending less this New Year's Eve than we did last year.
Online bingo services, such as Foxy Bingo, Wink Bingo, 888 Ladies Bingo, Cheeky, Posh and Mirror Bingo, are all expected to benefit as thousands of thrill seekers log on for their kicks. Many are offering special rates with huge New Year prizes on offer.
A spokesman for OnlineBingoClub.co.uk said: "It seems like the traditional New Years Eve sight of drunken party goers falling out of clubs could be less common this year.
"More of us than ever will be spending the evening of December 31 at our computer screens and there's no better fun to be had online than bingo."
Based on a survey of 400 men and women.
