Actress Kristen Johnston to Speak at The WonderGirls

    NEW YORK, January 10, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Stage and screen star Kristen Johnston is slated to be the keynote speaker at The WonderGirls workshop "Life 101: Nurturing Your Best Self" on Sunday, February 21, 2010. Girls age 12-18 and their mothers will gather for an afternoon of enrichment, empowerment and self-discovery courtesy of The WonderGirls, an innovative New York City program aimed at combating the gossip girl culture so prevalent in the lives of today's teens.

Ms. Johnston's witty take on "Life 101" will be preceded by a series of interactive mini-workshops led by author Susan Shapiro Barash (Toxic Friends); organizing expert Jennifer Zwiebel (The Organized Student); nutrition guru Elissa Silver; and life-in-balance expert Jennifer Edwards. Mothers and their daughters will rotate through the workshops separately, then come back together to create personal vision boards with artist Pamela Moss and to laugh with Ms. Johnston. Chick rocker Naomi Less will entertain.

Lisa R. Bochner, New York City parent and marketing communications professional, founded the WonderGirls in January 2009. "I created The WonderGirls to provide a nutritious alternative to the pop culture diet to which teenage girls are constantly exposed. Our participants interact with dynamic, accomplished women who encourage them to expand their world views, exercise their problem-solving skills, discover new talents and reach for the stars."

The venue for the February 21st event is the Stephen Gaynor School, located at 148 W. 90th Street in New York City. The program will run from 11:30 am to 5:00 pm.
