PRAGUE, CZECH REPUBLIC, January 19, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- TypeTogether (www.type-together.com), an independent type foundry created in 2006 by designers Veronika Burian and Jose Scaglione, has announced the release of two new type families, Edita, by catalan designer Pilar Cano, and Etica, by the renowned design studio Leftloft from Milan.
Edita is a gentle typeface, humanistic in concept yet with a contemporary feel, where softness and fluidity play a very important role. This can be seen especially in its italics, which are loosely based on handwriting. This type family is intended to be used in books where text is set together with photographs and other graphic elements. However, Edita is a general book typeface, versatile enough to be used in many other contexts, from novels to promotion material.
Etica is a multifaceted typeface originated as response to Helvetica's ubiquitousness, Etica emphasises the softer, warm side, while maintaining a strong and decisive appearance. The challenge was to obtain the same force, versatility and colour that are some of Helvetica's greatest qualities. The same proportions have been maintained, albeit with slightly reduced letter width. The resulting design has soft strokes, open counters and terminals; aesthetically resting somewhere between a grotesque and humanist sans serif. It successfully combines masculine force with female delicacy.
These new type families are available in OpenType format at TypeTogether's online store (www.type-together.com). They support more than 40 languages that use the latin script and a wide range of OpenType features that allow for typographic refinement and delicate typesetting.
