ROME, ITALY, January 17, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Art lovers staying at accommodation in Rome may want to take some time out of their day to visit one art exhibition in the city.
Until February 14th, Calder is on at Palazzo dell Esposizioni and offers an impressive display of sculptures by the American artist Alexander Calder.
According to Art Observed, this "surpasses any show dedicated to the artist in Italy during the past three decades" and may therefore offer a once in a lifetime opportunity for visitors to get a real taste of his work.
Some of the 150 pieces on show include Calder's famous delicate sculptures that are tempted into movement when hit by a breeze. The news provider describes them as "deftly engineered wire mobiles".
As well as these, visitors can also see paintings and other lesser-known key pieces marking the various stages in the career of the artist, who was born in 1898 and died in 1976.
Some of the works are borrowed from the Museum of Modern Art, the Whitney Museum of American Art, the National Gallery of Art and the Calder Foundation.
The exhibition is running alongside the Gagosian Gallery's Monumental Sculpture display.
Also on at Palazzo dell Esposizioni until February 14th is Stars and Particles - The Words of the Universe, which has all manner of telescopes and cosmic radiation detectors on display.
To make the most of the Calder exhibition, you should consider booking your hotel Roma to avoid disappointment.
